Annotations
The Annotations panel lets operators add contextual text notes, labels, and drawn shapes to the map that persist beyond a single session. Annotations are useful for marking hazards, recording observations, and communicating spatial context to team members.
Overview
Annotations differ from POIs in that they can include free-form drawn shapes (lines, polygons, arrows) in addition to point markers, and are intended as notes rather than operational waypoints.
Creating an Annotation
- Open the Annotations panel from the map toolbar.
- Click New Annotation.
- Choose a shape type: point, line, polygon, or arrow.
- Draw the shape on the map.
- Enter a label and optional notes in the properties panel.
- Click Save.

Annotation Types
| Type | Use Case |
|---|---|
| Point | Mark a specific location with a label |
| Line | Indicate a route, boundary, or feature edge |
| Polygon | Highlight an area of interest or concern |
| Arrow | Indicate direction or draw attention to a feature |
Managing Annotations
From the Annotations panel you can:
- Filter annotations by type or creator
- Edit label and notes text
- Change colour or style
- Delete individual or bulk annotations
- Export annotations as KML or GeoJSON

Visibility
Annotations can be toggled visible or hidden per session without deleting them, allowing operators to declutter the map during active flights.
