Failsafe Actions
Failsafe Actions define what the aircraft does automatically when a critical condition is detected mid-flight. Each trigger has its own setting so you can tune the behaviour to match your operational environment.
Overview
IDI Fly Dashboard supports four independently configured failsafe triggers across two categories:
| Category | Trigger | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Network | Signal Loss | The dashboard loses downlink contact with the aircraft |
| Network | RC Link Loss | The remote controller link drops |
| Low Battery | Low Battery | Battery falls to the low-battery warning threshold |
| Low Battery | Critical Battery | Battery falls to the critical threshold |
Each trigger has a separate action picker. Changing one does not affect the others.
Configuring Failsafes
- Open Settings using the settings icon in the navigation bar.
- Select the Failsafes tab.
- Use the dropdown pickers under Network and Low Battery to set the action for each trigger.
- Settings are saved to your device configuration immediately when you make a selection.
On DJI Dock 3 hardware the Signal Loss and Low Battery pickers are disabled (greyed out). These values are controlled by the dock firmware and cannot be overridden from the dashboard.
Signal Loss Action
Triggered when the dashboard loses the telemetry downlink from the aircraft for longer than the built-in timeout.
Available Actions
| Action | What the Drone Does |
|---|---|
| Hover | Holds current position and altitude; waits for signal to return |
| Landing | Descends and lands immediately at the current position |
| Go to Safe Location | Ascends to return-to-home altitude and navigates to the pre-set safe location |
| Go To Dock | Navigates back to the dock station and lands |
| Warning | Raises an alert in the dashboard without commanding any aircraft action |
RC Link Loss Action
Triggered when the physical remote controller link is dropped. This is configured separately from signal loss because you may run dock-based missions without an RC connected at all.
Available Actions
The same options are available as for Signal Loss, except Go To Dock is not offered for RC link loss. The available choices are: Hover, Landing, Go to Safe Location, and Warning.
Low Battery Action
Triggered when the battery level reaches the low-battery threshold configured on the aircraft.
Available Actions
The same five actions are available: Hover, Landing, Go to Safe Location, Go To Dock, and Warning.
On DJI Dock 3 the low battery picker is disabled. The dock manages battery-triggered returns directly.
Critical Battery Action
Triggered when battery reaches the critical threshold — typically a few percent below the low-battery level. At this point the aircraft may not have enough power to complete a full return-to-home flight, so the recommended action is Landing to avoid an uncontrolled descent.
Available Actions
The same five actions are available. The most conservative and generally recommended setting is Landing.

Recommended Settings
The right configuration depends on your operation, but a common starting point for dock-based missions is:
| Trigger | Recommended Action |
|---|---|
| Signal Loss | Go To Dock |
| RC Link Loss | Hover |
| Low Battery | Go To Dock |
| Critical Battery | Landing |
Test failsafe settings in a controlled environment before operational deployment. An incorrect setting — for example, Hover on Critical Battery — can result in an aircraft running out of power mid-air with no recovery action.
